【1st Announcement】 The 21th Spring Conference of the Japan Society for International Development,
The Organizing Committee announces that the 21th Spring Conference will be held at Ryukoku University, Fukakusa Campus on 27 June, 2020. The Committee hopes that this Conference will be a unique and valuable one taking consideration of the fact that it will be held in the ancient capital of Kyoto, Japan.
The details will follow in our second announcement, and will be posted in the Conference special website (NOT JASID website) that will be designed shortly.

We will shortly announce the details of this Conference in a special website. We strongly suggest that you will make hotel reservations at your earliest convenience, because reserving hotel rooms in Kyoto is now enormously difficult throughout the year.
<Plenary>
We are planning to organize a plenary session which is provisionally entitled “Social Innovation of Local and Global World: Perspectives from Kyoto” in collaboration with Social Innovation Laboratory Kyoto (https://social-innovation.kyoto.jp/).
<Special Session of the host University>
We are also planning to provide a special session that is provisionally entitled “From Fukushima to Kyoto: Reconsidering Development from the Viewpoints of Evacuees from The Great East Japan Earthquake,” in collaboration with Ms. Yuko Nishiyama, Director of Minnanote (http://www.minnanote.org/).

We are not sure about this event, but will announce once decision is being made.
<Excursion of the following day>
・Date: 28 June 2020 (Sunday)
There will be two types of excursions;
1) Nishi Honganji Temple and its vicinities, you will be allowed to see sections of the Temple which are usually NOT allowed for tourists’;
2) We hope to visit some of the social business shops in the central part of Kyoto city as an extension of the plenary session of the Conference. We may have our lunch at a restaurant which has social business intentions. These visits are now being arranged with Social Innovation Laboratory Kyoto.
2. Presentation types & Applications
There are four presentation categories; 1) oral presentation, 2) poster presentation, 3) organized panel (including book talk), and 4) roundtable session. The schedules of application and the submission deadline are below. Details such as application and paper submission procedures will be announced soon. Depending on the number of applications, some presentations may be asked to change their mode of presentation (for instance, the Committee may ask yours to shift from oral to poster presentation.).

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that all application related transactions will be made through a special Conference website (NOT JASID website) and will inform you its URL soon.

- Deadline: 20 march 2020 (Friday, holiday )
- Notification of acceptance via email: Early April 2020
Please note that non-members of JASID may not lead the group presentations, although s/he may be included in group presentations. Thus, it is strongly recommended that for those who wish to make presentations either orally or through posters, one should complete the process to become a full-fledged JASID member before 25 February 2020 (Tuesday).
